THE #1 BEST BUY IN THE COUNTRY: ACROBAT PINOT GRIS

How often has an Oregon wine landed in the #1 spot on the Top 100 Best Buy list published by one of the country’s top wine magazines?

The answer was “never,” until now.

Wine Enthusiast issued its Top 100 Best Buy list in October 2016 with Acrobat Pinot Gris coming in at #1. That’s a first for Oregon and a first for King Estate Winery, which produces Acrobat.

The Top 100 list was designed to answer the age-old question, “What the heck do I drink on a Tuesday night?” Acrobat Pinot Gris, with its layers of citrus and tropical fruit flavors and pleasant but racy acid balance in the mid-palate, is an inspired choice.

“When we created Acrobat, we set out to make a wine for the savvy, everyday wine consumer – a wine that is accessible, dependable and one they can have confidence in,” says King Estate Winery CEO and Co-Founder Ed King. “I could not be more proud that 2015 Acrobat Pinot Gris has been named the #1 Best Buy on Wine Enthusiast’s Top 100 list for 2016. This award resonates with everything we sought for Acrobat, and we are humbled to be able to share it with you.”

To qualify for Wine Enthusiast’s Top 100 Best Buy list, a wine must be priced at $15 or less and meet a certain quality-to-price ratio. Likes its namesake, Acrobat deftly and gracefully traveled a long road to land the #1 spot. Of more than 21,000 wines reviewed this past year – from 17 countries and more than 30 grape varieties – fewer than 1,400 were awarded the Best Buy designation. The top 100 list was chosen from that list of 1,400. (For the mathematicians among you, that’s the top .005%.) This elite list features the most enticing, buzzworthy, obtainable and affordable wines available today, according to the magazine.
